Laura Gates


Laura L. Gates is a licensed clinical social worker who graduated from the University
of Pennsylvania with a specialization in social work with families.  She is a clinical
member of A.A.M.F.T. and a Board Certified Diplomate in Clinical Social Work.  She
joined the faculty at the Family Institute of Westchester following a two year
teaching fellowship.  Ms. Gates also completed her post-graduate training at FIW
and was involved in the Core Clinical program and the Gay and Lesbian training track
where she was taught to work with traditional and non-traditional families from a
family systems model.  Ms. Gates has extensive experience in the mental health
field working with acutely and chronically ill adults and adolescents.  She is a former
staff member of the Caron Foundation; an internationally renown chemical
dependency treatment center.  Ms. Gates has a private practice in White Plains, NY
and Stratford, CT where she specializes in working with individuals, couples and
families on life cycle, gender, and recovery issues.  She also provides supervision to
mental health professionals.
