Introductory Seminar
In addition to the intensive training program, FIW also offers a yearlong
introductory seminar for new graduates and professionals in all fields who wish
to learn the basic principles of family therapy. In this seminar participants
learn the basics of the multicontextual clinical model, often referred to in the
field as the "FIW Model." This course also allows students to explore their own
family backgrounds using the model.

Difficult Case Seminar
Each year the institute makes available a monthly seminar for advanced
clinicians who wish to periodically consult with FIW’s director, Elliott J Rosen,
on difficult cases. This seminar provides an opportunity to network with
colleagues and consult collaboratively on their work. This seminar also provides
clinicians with continuing professional education hours.

Coaching Seminar
During the 2001-2002 training year, FIW added an additional component to
the first year of the core clinical program: a monthly coaching seminar for new
therapists. The concept of "coaching" was originally devised by Murray Bowen,
whose work is integral to the FIW model. Participants actively work on issues
in their own families of origin under the guidance of a senior clinician and
devise strategic for intervention.
