Entering college is an emotionally challenging transition for both the student and his or her family. Young adults are in the midst of a tremendous developmental growth spurt. At the same time they are at risk for mental health crises. The majority of psychiatric disorders have their onset during this age range.
The workshop will describe the particular psychological dilemmas this current generation of students is facing and articulate strategies for guidance for the parents. Participants are welcome to provide brief vignettes of their own cases during the discussion period.
