The challenge of movement from core self-hatred and self-criticism to core self-compassion and self-support is a fundamental human challenge.

In this experiential, interactive workshop, Dr. David Aftergood, an integrative psychiatrist, will draw upon multiple sources from the psychological world as well as the spiritual traditions to help facilitate this core self-transformation. Included will be an examination of the dynamics of shame, the self relations work of Dr Stephen Gilligan, Dr Daniel Siegel’s interpersonal neurobiology and the role of mindfulness in self identity and regulation of affect.

The skills learned in the workshop are beneficial in helping patients make this crucial shift in self-relationship.
